Sit by the canal and enjoy the wonderful globally inspired menu at eco-friendly restaurant Waterhouse in Shoreditch

 

Acorn House, London’s first completely eco -friendly restaurant has now moved from its original location in London’s King’s Cross to join forces with its sister restaurant, Waterhouse over in Shoreditch and now forms the wonderful eco-friendly restaurant Waterhouse Restaurant. Both restaurants formed part of the Shoreditch Trust, a social enterprise focusing on the regeneration of the area. Having now combined Waterhouse and Acorn House into one venue in Shoreditch, this delightful restaurant really takes its environmentally friendly credentials seriously, with everything from the vegetable based ink on the menus to the organic food served, carefully ensuring that the whole ethos of the restaurant is kept intact. The setting is wonderful, with a delightful canal side terrace for al fresco dining on sunnier days and a smart and contemporary dining room inside. The menu changes according to the seasons but you might expect to be tucking into dishes such as jerk porchetta with sweet potato and okra; confit duck with braised red cabbage, honey and aromatic reduction or baked squash with ricotta, caramelle and pine nuts in sage butter. In keeping with the concept, the wine list features a good selection of international biodynamic wines and the coffees are of course Fairtrade. With fine food, charming surroundings and strong environmental principles, Waterhouse Restaurant is a lovely London restaurant.

Acorn House is a great place to eat. The food was lovely, we each had something different and each dish was delicious- The desserts were lovely too - the cheese was great. The service was excellent & friendly. Will be returning to Acorn House very soon
