Tom Aikens may be one of London's most famous and celebrated chefs, but his restaurant Tom's Kitchen, couldn't be further from his fine dining restaurant round the corner in Elystan Street. It's a more relaxed affair with a butcher's block and an open kitchen offering curious diners an insight into the mechanics of the machine. Tom's kitchen could almost be called a gastro-pub with its white-washed brick walls, scrubbed wood tables and reclaimed fixtures and fittings. The restaurant is calm and relaxed and follows Tom's philiosophy that food should be shared and enjoyed with friends and family, and avoid fusinness or pretentions of granduer. With this firmly at the forefront of everything in Tom's Kitchen, the menu has been designed to use fresh, local, seasonal ingredients to produce heart-warming British classics that everyone loves. Opt for the pan fried foie gras with bacon and duck egg, follow with the spit roast shoulder of lamb for a full-on meaty meal, and complement with sides of mashed potato, savoy cabbage with bacon or parsnips. Beef also comes highly recommended in all its forms (côte de boeuf, fillet, sirloin steak, burger) – not least for the accompanying big crunchy chips. Busy every day of the week, Tom's Kitchen has been an overnight success and it would be no suprise to see more of Tom's kitchens cropping up around town.

Tom's Kitchen was a lovely experience from beginning to end. The food was exquisite and the atmosphere perfect for a relaxed lunch. I would highly recommend this to all Best London Restaurants readers. I'd also like to say how easy your site is to use and how great the information you provide is. I've used a few other sites in the past, but find yours far superior in every sense. Many thanks.
