Skylon is destination restaurant and a relaxed, informal grill centre around a raised bar serving classic and contemporary cocktails

 

Located within the Royal Festival Hall, Skylon offers a spectacular panorama of London's skyline with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the River Thames. Taking its name from the original iconic structure of the 1951 Festival of Britain, Skylon has been designed to echo the style of the refurbished Royal Festival Hall with contemporary touches added, such as uniquely designed chandeliers and surfaces of bronze, walnut and slate. Skylon's Executive Chef Helena Puolakka has developed a modern European menu with British influences, based around the best seasonal ingredients. Signature dishes include butter poached lobster with grapefruit and cashew nut salad or wild salmon from Scotland confit with watercress cream. A carefully selected wine list spans the globe and includes some splendid English bottles, as well as a few 1950s reserve wines, inspired by Southbank Centre's postwar origins. Booking is essential as this is one of London's most talked about new restaurants.

Skylon has an extremely stylsh atmosphere. It is beautifully styled and is based around providing an 'experience' as well as a service. The maitre d' team were exceptional. We were a party of nine and we all had a wonderful night

Skylon is without doubt one of the best restaurants in London. The location is second to none, the food superb and service perfect. I couldn't recommend a better place for lunch or dinner.

Skylon fully deserves the good write up given here on Best London Restaurants. It's a gorgeous looking restaurant with excellent food and very good service. We had a great evening at Skylon and highly recommend it to other readers.
