Simpsons Tavern has been serving traditional British cuisine to the city of London since 1757 and has not lost one bit of its original charm or style. Located right in the heart of London’s financial district, close to Bank station and Tower Bridge, Simpsons Tavern is an olde worlde restaurant that maintains many of its original features both inside and out. It was actually the first restaurant in London to employ female waiting staff at the turn of the century and women were only admitted inside in 1916. The restaurant is steeped in history, Charles Dickens was a regular and his great grandson is to this day. Mostly full of city types, Simpsons Tavern is one of the last standing genuine old London chophouses. The seating is arranged in stalls just like it always has been and the brass rails to hang hats on still stand. The food sticks firm to British tradition and the menu has not given in to modern culinary innovations, it is as traditional as can be. Set out by days of the week with a few main choices for each day choose from tasty homemade dishes such as shepherds pie, pork, leek and cider pie, oxtail stew or roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Simpsons Tavern is a charming step back in time and proves that good old British cooking is still as loved as ever.
