Founded by Richard, 7th Earl of Bradford, in 1979, Porters is a reasonably priced English restaurant in Central London specialising in homemade food

Way back when the piazza was still a working fruit and vegetable market, the 7th Earl of Bradford had the good sense to establish this fine tribute to traditional English fare. Now surrounded by all things trendy and slick, Porters remains a bastion of our culinary heritage, along with Simpson's in the Strand and Rules on Maiden Lane. But unlike its fellow true Brit restaurants, Porters is refreshingly relaxed and child-friendly. It also has a firm grip on pricinig, so its menu shows surprising value for money - an unexpected treat for all Covent Garden locals and visitors. Expect home-made British favourites such as, beer battered fish and chips, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, Guinness and mushroom pie, pork, leek and sage sausages and salmon and prawn fish cakes, not to mention the puddings which include syrup sponge and spotted Dick. This year is their 25th Anniversary so we think that they must be doing something right!
