L'Oranger restaurant is located in the heart of St James in Mayfair and is one of London's leading French restaurants offering first rate food and exceptional service. The interior of L'Oranger is as you'd expect in this part of London; warm tones, clean-cut & elegant and extremely comfortable chairs & banquettes, as well as a wonderful atrium that floods the dining room with natural light. But it's really the food at L'Oranger that keeps the customers flocking in and the food critics constantly excited. Michelin Star chef Laurent Michel, whose Provencal background lends the menus a sunny, south-of-France accent to brighten up the predictably top-end ingredients, delivers an elegance & subtlety to the French classics he prepares. Seasonally-changing Provencal dishes might include roasted scallops & smoked duck magret, truffle mousse, raspberry vinaigrette dressing or duck foie gras confit with a wild rocket salad & pine nuts, green apple iced “granité" to start, followed by steamed & aniseed wild sea bass, cucumber, girolles & radish, pomegranate dressing or rack of lamb “en croûte” of winter fruits, eggplant & confit tomatoes flavoured with citrus. Desserts are equally impressive, but we'd always recommend L'Oranger's outstanding cheeseboard as an after dinner 'must'. France dominates the superb wine list at L'Oranger & the classic areas of Burgundy & Bordeaux stand out, but there are also some great choices from the rest of the world. Whilst the rest of London offers diners cutting edge menus, there is comfort in the knowledge that L'Oranger delivers the seasonal French classics time and time again, always executed to absolute perfection. You simply can't go wrong with this restaurant.
