When entering La Porte des Indes restaurant you're truely walking though a 'Gateway to India', as the opulent interior with its waterfall, palms and imported fittings will take your breath away. Similarly the food of La Porte des Indes restaurant is absolutely breathtaking, as this is no ordinary Indian restaurant. The cuisine is heavily French influenced, as it largely derives from the Pondichery region, where the French were present until 1954. Therefore dishes such as the soft shell pepper crabs, the large juicy king scallops with a hint of garlic in a mild saffron sauce, the cassoulet de fruits de mer or the rare beef tenderloin served with roasted cinnamon, aniseed, cloves and black pepper sauce are a must. But then again, you might be tempted by the tender Tandoori grills or the trusted mouthwatering curry dishes. Desserts at La Porte des Indes restaurant again vary from the Indian to the French influenced - from Kulfis to mouse au chocolat. I take my business associates to lunch at La Porte des Indes on a regular basis and it is always a great hit with them. There is always something different on each visit and yes, this is not your regular lunch buffet with the same boring menu every day.
