The self named Hix restaurant is the second London restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef Mark Hix, after the huge success of his first establishment Hix Oyster & Chop House in Smithfield’s Market. Situated on Brewer Street in the heart of Soho, Hix caters for around 80 diners and features Mark’s signature British cuisine. The restaurant can be found on the ground floor and is very classic in style with leaded glass windows and dark wood furnishings. Adding a funky edge to the scene are artworks by Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst and Tim Noble and Sue Webster, all of whom created exclusive pieces for the restaurant. As for the food try dishes such as smoked haddock with colcannon, poached egg and grain mustard or breaded Blythburgh pork chop with fried duck’s egg and capers. There is a cool bar area in the basement which has a much more clubby feel to it and serves up small British dishes to a trendy crowd. Hix is yet another rip roaring success from one of Britain’s top chefs and advance reservations are highly recommended.
