Enjoying huge success on the London restaurant scene, the Galvin brothers have brought their exquisite French cuisine to the East End of London with their Michelin starred restaurant Galvin La Chapelle, situated in the rather stunning St Botolph’s Hall in the City. This London landmark has been transformed into an elegant and sophisticated French restaurant yet the designers have made clever use of all the original features of this beautiful Grade II listed Victorian church hall. The vaulted ceilings are impressive; as are the arched windows and stone columns, and the original pews remain and form part of the seating. Already a huge hit amongst the local city slickers, Galvin La Chapelle is there to impress and does so with flair. Although the scenery is inspiring, it is the food that is the real star here where you might choose to start with a terrine of foie gras and fig with quince purée and brioche followed by grilled red mullet, bouillabaisse vinaigrette and herb fritters or roast côte de boeuf, truffle macaroni and Hermitage jus and finish with a delicious blueberry soufflé with a coulis and milk ice cream. The prix fixe menu is excellent value at just £24.50. For less formal dining with bistro style dishes check out the Galvin Café de Luxe at the same address. Galvin La Chapelle is yet another rip roaring success from two of the capital’s most respected restaurateurs/chefs.

We visited Galvin La Chapelle on a rainy Tuesday night and the restaurant was full, which seemed like a good sign. And it really was. The food was superb, service excellent and the ambience, first rate. This is a fantastic addition to the area, offering a high quality dining experience at a very reasonable cost. A 3 course dinner for 2 with a good glass of wine each (they have a superb choice by the glass) came to just over £100. We really could not fault one thing and will definitely be using Galvin La Chapelle as our regular dining choice.
