Authentic Japanese cooking is served in simple surroundings at the Fujisan restaurant

Tooting Bec is the London location for Fujisan, a great Japanese restaurant serving top food at really modest prices. There are no fuss or frills at Fujisan, the décor has been kept clean and simple with bare wooden tables and plenty of clean and contemporary lines although the sunken tables seating for 12 people is a nice touch. The food however is a different matter and is the reason why this place is as popular as it is. King prawn tempura and tangy gyoza dumplings stuffed with prawns and vegetables are just a couple of examples from the long list of starters. The sushi and sashimi is spot on and the bento boxes are probably the star of the show. Then there are the superb pork ribs and the amazing hot chilli beef ramen or sirloin steak sizzling platter. Try an authentic cup of hot Japanese sake on a cold day or refresh your palette with one of the excellent Japanese beers. Tooting’s local workforce fill the tables of Fujisan during the daytime and evenings are equally as busy.
