Russell Norman’s third Italian restaurant venture in London, Da Polpo is fast becoming a Covent Garden hotspot

Following the massive success of its older siblings Polpo and Polpetto, Russell Norman has opened his third Italian restaurant Da Polpo in London’s Covent Garden. Focusing on the highly popular small Italian tapas style dishes, which have proved so popular in in the other two restaurants, Da Polpo is a casual osteria with a lovely authentic feel. The dining room has been superbly decked out, and Norman’s love for reclaimed furnishings is prevalent everywhere from the church pews to the black and white floor tiles, each and every detail carefully thought out and impeccably finished. As for the menu, tuck into delicious small plates of Italian American comfort grub. Choose from a variety of meatballs including the classic beef & pork or the spicy pork and fennel or perhaps opt for the tasty pizette topped with for example grilled Mortadella, Gorgonzola and pickled radicchio. Other options include calves liver with onions and sage and grilled asparagus with buttered eggs and Parmesan. The wine list is superb and service is more than efficient and very friendly. Da Polpo is certain to be every inch the big hit its two older siblings have proven to be and brings a wonderfully authentic slice of Italy to Covent Garden.
