This is the second year consecutive that this superb restaurant has been awarded this prestigious accolade, a real testament to its quality of service and cuisine. Nestled in the heart of Piccadilly Circus, the Criterion Restaurant is one of London’s finest restaurants, a symbol of glamourous, sophisticated and elegant fine dining. Opened back in 1874, the restaurant is located in a stunning Grade II listed central London building and boasts the most spectacular neo Byzantine interiors full of grandeur and timeless elegance. Gilded ceilings, magnificently grand windows, towering arches and lots of gold and marble just ooze glamour and lavishness from every angle. Taking on the huge responsibility of heading up the kitchen at the Criterion Restaurant is Head Chef Matthew Foxon who has surpassed all expectations with a stunning Modern European menu. Starters include pan fried Isle of Wight scallop with black pudding and pea purée and foie gras torchon with wood pigeon, tomato and apple relish and a port reduction whilst main courses feature Gloucester Old Spot pork loin and belly, crackling, black pudding and pea purée and yellow fin tuna with braised fennel, dried tomato, asparagus and sauce vierge. For drinks, head to the renowned Long Bar at The Criterion and indulge in an outstanding wine and cocktail list whilst relaxing in plush red velvet seats and fabulously luxurious surroundings. The Criterion Restaurant really is worthy of its reputation and is truly one of the most incredibly lavish restaurants in London.

We decided to eat at Criterion after seeing that it won the Best Restaurant in London here on Best London Restaurants and we were not disappointed. The food was superb, the service excellent and the restaurant itself was one of the most appealing that I've ever dined in. Overall the experience was superfluous and it's easy to see why this restaurant was crowned the winner by your readers. 10 out of 10.

Wow.... this has to be one of THE best dining experiences in London. The food is outstanding and service second to none. But it's the room that restaurant is located in that makes this experience so special. Elegant to the very core. You really should visit for yourself to know what I'm going on about. A must!!
