No need to source a meat supplier for the owner of The Butcher & Grill, offering both a butchers shop and restaurant, this British eatery offers some of the freshest meat in town

The Butcher & Grill is a unique British restaurant situated right in the centre of leafy Wimbledon village in South West London. Based on an original concept of combining a modern butchers shop with an informal restaurant where all of the shop's produce is served, this is the second Butcher & Grill this side of London, the other based in Battersea. The concept works well, offering diners a menu full of the freshest produce available and a chance to see exactly where the food on their plate is coming from. It's surprising really that no one has come up wit this idea before. The casual bar serves coffee and a full breakfast menu in the mornings after which the relaxed restaurant offers quality lunches and evening meals where good service and simple surroundings are the basis for a super meal. Artwork by Ian Wilmott of Smithfield market in days gone by and black and white prints of animals set the scene for some amazingly fresh and simple British cuisine. Welsh rarebit with duck egg or roast salmon with samphire and hollandaise are just a few examples of the starters on offer, followed by mains such as grilled calfs liver with onions, bacon and cabbage or lamb sweetbreads with girolles, sprouts and shallots. Of course you can choose any cut of meat you wish straight from the butcher's counter which will be cooked to perfection. English strawberries with champagne sorbet or a fine selection of British cheeses with crackers finish off the meal nicely. The Butcher & Grill is really child friendly too and offers a great kids menu including a mini roast dinner. You really can't beat this place for quality and service, the concept works fantastically.
