Part of the impressive One Great George Street building in London’s St James’s, home to the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Brasserie One restaurant is one not to be missed. Situated on the lower ground floor of this stunning Edwardian edifice with its four domes, Brasserie One serves up to notch Modern European cuisine in very stylish surroundings. A mixed clientele fill the tables, from Institute members to the local political workforce from nearby Whitehall, as well as a smattering of savvy tourists and the vibe is surprisingly relaxed. The menu changes according to the seasons and might feature dishes such as chorizo and roasted pepper risotto or rack of lamb with curried green beans and lentils. Dessert should not be missed either when you have delights such as baked lemon cheesecake or crème caramel to choose from. The set lunch menu includes some great dishes and is excellent value for a restaurant of this caliber. Brasserie One can be found close to the wide open spaces of St James’s Park and really is worth a visit.
