The Aqua Brasserie in Vauxhall is served by glorious views of the Thames through the floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the dining area with light. The décor is very cosmopolitan, with a horseshoe-shaped bar at which to enjoy a drink before a meal. Aqua serves food throughout the day, offering a fantastic all-day breakfast and a broad range of light bites at lunchtime. In the evenings, the menu changes to more substantial fare, including spicy lamb merguez sausages with harissa, pan-fried red mullet, moule et frites with cream, white wine and shallots and a great selection of vegetarian meals. Desserts are chic but not overbearing, and the wine list has enough to satisfy the most ardent wine-buff. All in all, the Aqua Brasserie offers a civilised and relaxed dining experience in an area not renowned for an abundance of good restaurants.
